Meet our Chief Encouragement Officer

Mable S. Taplin is a licensed Professional Registered Nurse who earned her Masters of Nursing Degree with a focus in Community Health and Leadership from North Park University. She received her Bachelors of Nursing Degree, Cum Laude, from Howard University.

Mable has enjoyed a successful and diverse nursing career for almost twenty years. She’s held positions as a Clinical Nurse Consultant, Community Liaison, Nursing Instructor and staff nurse. Although Mable has experience in several clinical specialties, her passion is working in the community.

Mable has always been drawn to mentor young girls and women within her community. Her passion for facilitating mentoring relationships between women and young girls was fueled very early in her life, due to the mentorship that she received from women throughout her formative years. It came as little surprise, that she started mentoring younger girls very soon after entering her teenage years.

In fact, one of her favorite scriptures is Titus 2:3-6.

“Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanders or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good.”

Titus 2:3-6

In 2011, Mable founded Joanie Girls Heart, or JGH… a non-profit organization devoted to preparing minority adolescent girls for college, and introducing them to opportunities in healthcare careers through life-skill development workshops and international service learning trips.

In 2016, Mable found herself suffering from anxiety and depression, and decided that she needed to take a break to nurture her soul. So she embarked on a journey traveling around the world. As a way to stay connected to her family and friends, she started a Facebook group. The popularity of the Facebook group grew as Mable connected with women from around the globe.

Mable’s decision to nurture her soul, lead her on a path of healing and ultimately back to her true passion. Mable’s passion is to inspire women around the world to live out their dreams by teaching them how to take care of themselves… mind, body and soul! Thus, she founded DiscovHer Life LLC.

She lives around the world, but she will always be a Chicago girl.

Mable is often asked how she manages to live a life filled with freedom, passion and purpose.

Below are some of her answers.

I live out my freedom, passion, and purpose in many ways.

1. I absolutely love people. I have been described as someone who never met
a stranger. So I speak, hug, and talk to people as much as I can.

2. I love to volunteer and nurture children… Whether it is through formal mentorship or playing with children in the airport. If there are children around, it is not uncommon for me to find a way to spend time with them.

3. I started this process about 5 years ago… and every year around my birthday, I update my life list. My life list is a list of anything that I want to

do or experience in my lifetime. From kissing the rapper Common, to riding in a hot air balloon, to learning a second language… I write out my wishes. And I check things off, sometimes unknowingly. I think God just works when you live intentionally and write things down.

4. I love to sing and dance. My favorite music is Chicago-style House Music.

5. I dyed my hair blond and went natural. I never knew how restrained I was by my hair until I started wearing it natural. I danced in the rain for the first
time in Bali in 2016. I felt AMAZING!!

6. I allow myself to be loved and I am more vulnerable and open than I have ever been in my life.

7. I honor God in everything that I do!
